Tank Repairs

D+R provides practical and cost effective solutions to many maintenance problems wherever they occur

At D&R Maintenance Solutions Ltd, we repair and restore tanks. The most common problems we can help solve include:

Repairs to Tanks

Meat processing plants (MPPs) produce large amounts of slaughterhouse wastewater (SWW) because of the slaughtering process and cleaning of facilities. SWWs need significant treatment for a sustainable and safe discharge to the environment due to the high content of organics and nutrients. To carry out treatment – whether physical, chemical or biological of the SWW, it’s essential that the tanks used during these processes are corrosion-resistant, durable, easily sterilised, cleaned and temperature controlled.

Types of Tanks We Repair

Tank Repair and Protection

We use solvent-free materials to extend the life of the tanks by up to 25+ years, depending on the system used and our client’s requirements. We use materials that cure quickly without odour, minimising downtime, labour, and equipment replacement costs in this industry. Many of the coatings we use meet national and international standards for drinking water and food contact (NSF, WRAS, and USDA).

Benefits of Tank Repair

Bund Lining & Repairs

If you are considering a bund renovation, there are a few things to remember:

Is your bund structurally sound?

First, you want to make sure that the bund is structurally sound. Then, our team will survey your bund and check for any cracks or leaks. If there are any, they must be repaired as soon as possible.

Types of coating & lining

You want to consider the type of coating or lining that you use. This is important because it will determine how long the bund will last and how well it will protect your assets. Again, our team will advise on the best lining that we will install.

Regular Maintenance

Finally, you want to ensure that you have a plan for regular maintenance. This will help prolong your bund’s life and keep it in good condition.

Repair and Protection of Process Equipment

We can restore damaged pumps and heat exchangers to their original profile using cold-curing metal repair composites. We then apply protective coatings to provide erosion and corrosion protection, reducing energy consumption. In addition, our coating solutions offer excellent chemical resistance and help lower maintenance costs.

It is possible to repair and protect critical process equipment with solvent-free metal repair composites and protective coatings equipment. As well as rebuilding components to their original profiles, galvanic corrosion will be eliminated.

Work Carried out for Heineken (UK) Ltd

•Multiple refurbishments of cider tanks, exterior and interior

•After the scaffolding was installed, inside and outside, the entire surfaces were grit blasted and specialist coating systems were applied to prevent corrosion and protection against acids and chemicals.

•Work carried a 10-year warranty on labour and materials

Floor Repair and Protection

During the meat production process, abattoirs need to have hygienic, hard-wearing flooring. They are continually exposed to corrosive by-products and contaminants such as to corrosive by-products and contaminants such as fats, hot oils, blood, sugar solutions, and natural acids – all of which can destroy surfaces in a clean zone that are insufficiently robust. This can lead to uncontrolled bacterial growth and may put the site at risk of contamination.

epoxy Blue floor

We use composites and coatings for fast-curing concrete repairs that resolve impacts and abrasion issues. Using epoxy-based materials, concrete and stone can be resurfaced and protected against chemical and environmental attack.

These coatings are specially designed to provide long-term chemical protection for secondary containment areas, channels, and gratings.

As well as providing slip-resistance flooring, coatings are available in various colours to enhance visibility and increase safety.

Advantages of Epoxy & Polyurethane Floor Coating

•Excellent resistance to continuous hot & cold liquid spillage

•Thermal shock Resistant. Can be frequently steam cleaned up to 120°C.)

•Dust free application & Low odour

•Limited downtime – the system may generally be installed without side effects whilst the facility is under full operating circumstances.

•Ease of cleaning & maintenance.

•Non-absorbent & impermeable. Easy to maintain hygienic surfaces.

•High chemical resistance: resistant to a wide range of chemicals such as acids, alkalis, salts, oil, blood, lactic acids, fats, carburants, aggressive gases, marine air and most solvents.

•High mechanical resistance. -excellent wear, impact and abrasion resistance to heavy duty traffic.

•The system is non-slip under both wet & dry conditions and surface textures may be altered to comply with client regulations.

Walkways & Stairs Solutions

There are many flooring solutions available today that can be used to create a safe and slip-resistant surface for walkways and stairs.

The meat & fish processing industries are prone to wet working conditions. Walkways and stairs can be textured to improve traction underfoot and prevent workers from slipping and falling.

Anti-Slip Resin

Anti-slip resin is one such solution that can coat existing surfaces or apply to new construction. This type of resin is typically made from a polymer that is mixed with an abrasive material, such as sand to increase the level of traction. It can be applied as a liquid or a powder and cures to create a hard, durable surface. It is also easy to clean and maintain, making it ideal for high-traffic areas.

Concrete Repairs & Protection Systems

Where refurbishment work is carried out in busy processing plants, we ensure that there is minimal disruption during the remedial works.

The products we use are ultra-fast drying whichs allows two coats to be applied on the same day. We use water-based coatings that are ultra low odour and do not release any hazardous solvents, which are critical factors in food processing environments.
